Colorama
2018
installation
Description
Colorama plays with the process by which low cost DLP projectors create an image. The projector sequentially projects the image monochromatically in several basic colours. This happens about one hundred and twenty times per second and is too fast for the eye to notice. With the help of a mirror that spins at 60 hz Colorama stretches the changes that happen in 1/60 of a second in to a 360 panorama and so exposes the projectors colour changes.
The installation was produced as part of the Light Guerrilla festival, which had the theme colour.
